Description
Panoramic photo of the east side of the East Street Valley and Spring Hill neighborhood from the original St. Boniface Church on the left, south towards the north side of Pittsburgh on the right. Leaves are off the trees. The original St. Boniface Church is the dark building in the middle of the photo on the left side of the photo on East Street with Royal Street heading up the hill to the right of the church. All of the buildings on East Street south of the church were taken down during the construction of I-279. The double-gabled house on Gershon Street directly behind the church, near the corner with Royal Street still stands as of 2016. Many of the houses along Royal Street still stand in 2016. Brahm Street is seen cutting across the center of the photo with Solar Street splitting off on the right side of the photo. Overbeck Street is seen near the top of the hill above Braham Street. Conrad Egerter and his family lived at 102 Braham Street and Elias Egerter (a carpenter who worked on the University of Pittsburgh Cathedral of Learning) lived at 52 Solar Street.
