  • Description
  • Chancellor, 1956-1965. Edward H. Litchfield came to the University in 1956 and oversaw the expansion of the campus with the additions of the Tower residence halls, Henry Clay Frick Fine Arts Building, Hillman Library, and Trees and Langley Halls. He arranged the purchase of Salk Hall, the Schenley Hotel (now William Pitt Union), and the Schenley apartments. In addition, he received state funding for the Barco Law Building and Posvar Hall.
