  • In 1982 the old Johnston log house was purchased by its current owner, William J. Johnson, who began a complete restoration project. During the restoration, a hidden tunnel was discovered running beneath the house to the well. Such underground sanctuaries were sometimes found in frontier houses where the threat of Indian attack was always a very real possibility. Restoration was completed in 1986. The log house currently (2006) serves as the residence of the Johnson family.
