  • Description
  • Heavy equipment excavating cut through Ivory Avenue during McKnight Road construction in Ross Township, Allegheny County, PA (1943). Work was suspended in November 1943 because of wartime manpower shortages and not resumed until June 1945. Motorists were faced with a 30 foot deep and 100 foot wide gap in Ivory Avenue for a year and a half.
