Description
View of the Fort Stanwix Hotel on Main Street. The Johnstown Hotel Corporation announced the construction of the seven-story hotel in July, 1913. The cost of construction was approximately $750,000 and the hotel opened in July, 1915. In 1968, the city bought the building, which was then owned by the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, during the urban redevelopment phase of the 1960s and demolished it in order to expand Lee Hospital.
