Description
View of the YWCA of Greater Johnstown on Somerset Street. Launched in 1913, Johnstown's chapter offered adult education classes and its members also took part in activities with the Red Cross and volunteered with the World War I Relief Campaign. The YWCA purchased this building in 1918. Built in the early 1900s, it was designed by local architect Thomas W. Myton as a residence for the president of the Smokeless Coal Company, James P. Thomas.
