Description
In 1938 Gordon's Shoes, owned by Benjamin Gordon, was located at 2200 Centre Avenue and Kirkpatrick Street in the Hill District. In this view, a Pittsburgh Provision & Packing Company delivery truck blocks the view of the entrance. Cars parked on the side street date from the 1930s or 1940s. Men and women congregate on the corner. Laundry hangs from a porch at the end of the street and a single smokestack rises in the distance. This image is cropped from a negative with a more expansive view of the street.
