Description
Eleanor Roosevelt visited Pittsburgh twice in 1944, once in February and again in May. This may be the February visit, as one of the women is wearing a fur coat. Jessie Vann at far left was the widow of Robert L. Vann, publisher of the Pittsburgh Courier. Following her husband's death in 1940, she was the newspaper's major stockholder until its sale in 1965.
