Scope and Content Notes

The Chamovitz-Eger Family Papers and Photographs document the genealogy and the lives of the Chamovitz and Eger families. There are contact lists of family members used for the purpose of organizing a family reunion in 1998, an Eger-Lieber family tree, a Harry and Ethel Eger family tree, and a Chamovitz family tree. There are narratives about how Gay Eger and Ken Crawford met and about how Marian and Herman Eger met. Genealogy information is included in correspondence to Robert Chamovitz from his relatives as a result of his request for family photographs. The lives of the Morris and Molly Chamovitz family are documented in Robert Chamovitz's 2005 oral history, photocopies of plaques from B'nai B'rith and Israel Bonds awarded to Morris Chamovitz and newspaper clippings about Jerome Chamovitz's retirement. Photocopies of official Army reports of the airplane crash in which Allen Chamovitz died are also included. The photographs document the 1998 Eger family reunion and the first generation of Egers to come to America. Three photo albums include photographs of the Chamovitz and Eger families from c. 1930 to c. 1960. An Army photo album includes photographs of life in camp and the countryside, and sites in Europe, such as the Eifel Tower. Many of the photographs are unlabeled.
