The Frick Park Lawn Bowling Club (FPLBC) of Pittsburgh was founded in 1935 and played its first game on May 15, 1938. The bowling greens were created at the northern side of Frick Park in Pittsburgh's Point Breeze neighborhood, near Reynolds Street and Carnegie Place. The club was established with 33 members with John H. Elliot serving as the president. In the 1940s, a clubhouse was constructed, and membership reached 171 members.
The club had been affiliated with the American Lawn Bowls Association (ALBA) since its inception, but in later years it existed as an independent club. In 1988, the club once again joined ALBA as well as the American Women's National Lawn Bowling Association (these two national organizations later merged to become the United States Lawn Bowls Association).
In 1992, the City of Pittsburgh warned the FPLBC that they would need to shut down due to the high cost of maintaining the grounds, but the FPLBC instead accepted a role as "Partners in Parks". This role allowed them to assume the costs of all maintenance to the grounds due to donations, permitting them to remain open.
The Frick Park Lawn Bowling Club (FPLBC) of Pittsburgh Records contain photographs, directories, newsletters, newspaper article clippings, administrative records, scrapbook pages, records from the East Cleveland Lawn Bowls Club, records from the Central Division Open, pamphlets, negatives, an oversized bowling green shelter renovation plan from Pittsburgh's Department of Public Works, a rolled photograph, minute book, and 3 film reels from the 1940s. The material ranges from 1938 to 2015 and the bulk consists of administrative records, scrapbook pages, and newspaper clippings.
The records are arranged in alphabetical order, loosely by topic, followed by photographs and scrapbooks.
