Ralph Atlas, born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1908, was a commissioned officer in the British Army of the Middle East, trained Jewish Palestinian volunteers in the Corps of Royal Engineers and participated in the Syrian and North African campaigns. A graduate of Carnegie Institute of Technology, Atlas settled permanently in Pittsburgh after the war, where he worked for Apollo Steel and later for Green Engineering International. The collection includes photographs of Ralph Atlas and his family, the Carnegie Mellon Class of 1935, a Levinson Steel Christmas party, and the Three Rivers Regatta, as well as two slides of the Apollo Steel Company.

Scope and Content Notes
The Atlas Family Photographs are housed in one archival box and arranged alphabetically by folder title. They include photographs of Ralph Atlas and his family, the Carnegie Mellon Class of 1935, a Levinson Steel Christmas party, and the Three Rivers Regatta, as well as two slides of the Apollo Steel Company. Of particular interest are a photograph of Ralph Atlas with David Ben-Gurion and a CD prepared by Roseanne Skirble, which contains images of the Atlas family in Palestine, of Ralph Atlas at Carnegie Institute of Technology, and of Ralph Atlas's military service in the Middle East during World War II.
