Description
Christine Griggs '27, who played Snow White, is carried by the dwarves and others as the Prince (Virginia Thompson, special student) bows his head. The seven dwarves were played by Rose Bloom, Annetta Dunbar, Katherine Letterman, Margaret McEwen, Ruth McKeever, Violet Musselman, and Inez Wallis. The 1925 May Day festival, "A Day in Fairyland," featured scenes from classic fairy tales along with the traditional coronation and maypole dance. Part I, "The Coming of Day," included dances by students portraying fairies, the Day, Rain, Sun, and Rainbow as well as Puck, flowers, and elves. Part II focused on the crowning of the Fairy Queen (May Queen) Mary Shane '25 and a maypole dance by the senior class. Part III consisted of three acts from classic fairy tales: first Snow White, then the Story of the Golden Goose, and finally Cinderella. Part IV, "The Close of Day," featured the dances of Evening, the Sandman, Moonlight, the Stars, and Night followed by the recessional. The pageant was directed by Vanda Kerst and written by Helen Ahlers '25, Marian Frank '25, and Harriet Thomas. Thomas was a member of the class of 1928 but passed away on July 25, 1925.
