Description
The University of Pittsburgh’s Field House, also known as the Fitzgerald Field House, was is located at the corner of Allequippa and Darragh streets in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood. The structure was named after Rufus H. Fitzgerald, the Chancellor of Pitt from 1944-1955. It was used for basketball games, indoor track, squash, handball, wrestling, and gymnastics; in addition, it was the home of the coaching offices for the basketball and volleyball departments. The facility, which opened in 1951, can currently accommodate 6,800 people.
