Description
The future site of Gimbel Brothers new two-story, $1.25 million warehouse between 24th and 25th Streets in Pittsburgh’s South Side neighborhood looking north. The fireproof structure was 386 feet long and 310 feet deep, and had facilities to load 80 trucks at one time. The structure was designed by Pittsburgh architect William York Cocken and the general contractor on the project was the Trimble Company. In the background is the South Twenty-Second Street Bridge or Brady Street Bridge, erected in 1896, and demolished on May 29, 1978.
