Description
The W.F. Trimble & Son’s Company was the general contractor on the McKees Rocks Terrace Housing Project in 1940-1941. The housing units were constructed at a cost of $700,000. The McKees Rocks Terrace has the distinction of being the Allegheny County Housing Authority’s (ACHA) oldest public housing site. The housing project consisted of 27 brick and frame buildings. They were constructed with a uniform exterior in a row-style plan and each unit had an equal but limited amount of closet and storage space. In 1997 the ACHA applied for a federal grant to demolish the old projects and build larger housing units with back yards and parking, as well as, an on-site community and recreation center.
