Description
A section of homes before rehabilitation by the Allegheny Housing Rehabilitation Corporation (AHRCO). AHRCO, formed in 1968, in cooperation with local, state, and federal agencies, was responsible for the rehabilitation of deteriorating and structurally sound housing in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area, including the southern section of Homewood below Frankstown Avenue. During 2004 AHRCO managed approximately 1,500 apartments in western Pennsylvania, and offered various types of affordable housing in inner city, urban, and suburban settings.
