Description
The Swinburne Bridge (left) or sometimes known as the Sylvan Avenue Bridge was reconstructed in 1915 as the high steel viaduct standing today. This riveted plate girder on trussed bents bridge is dwarfed by the 1,000-foot-long web of steel that carries the Penn-Lincoln Parkway East some seven stories above the Four Mile Run Valley floor below. The bridge spans Frazier Street and crosses over Saline Street (formally Forward Avenue).
