Description
The Golden Triangle as seen from Pittsburgh’s Mount Washington neighborhood. In the foreground is the Point Bridge (erected in 1927, closed in 1959, and demolished in 1970) spanning the Monongahela River. On the right, rising out of the Monongahela River, are the support columns for the new Fort Pitt Bridge still in its initial construction phase. In the center are the newly constructed Gateway Center buildings, and immediately to their right is the multi-colored State Office Building. The tallest building in the photograph is the U.S. Steel-Mellon Building, built in 1951 and today known as Three Mellon Center.
