Description
The buildings shown in this photograph were located just below the “Bluff,” (background) which is the site of present day Duquesne University. Still standing on the Bluff were temporary World War II classrooms, which would eventually be demolished to make way for a complete redevelopment of the campus. Taken from Forbes Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh beside the Allegheny County Jail, this photograph shows the intersection of Forbes Avenue (foreground) and Sixth Avenue leading (right) to the Liberty Bridge approach. The buildings in the center were eventually razed to make way for Rockwell Hall.
