Description
The North Side neighborhood of Pittsburgh looking towards downtown and Point State Park across the Allegheny River. In the center is the scrap yard of W.F. Wimmer Company, a scrap iron and metal processor. The unfinished bridge in the far left center is the Fort Duquesne Bridge, opened to traffic on October 17, 1969, and often referred to as the “Bridge to Nowhere.” The Manchester Bridge, demolished in 1970, is on the far right and the Fort Pitt Bridge, opened June 19, 1959, directly behind it.
