Actors perform a scene from the play “The Happy Time” in the Hamlet Street auditorium of the Pittsburgh Playhouse located in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh. The Playhouse, which for years had brought quality drama to Pittsburgh and which had featured a popular restaurant, expanded during the 1950s. The Pittsburgh Playhouse was created by Richard S. Rauh as a venue for his wife Helen Wayne Rauh, a renowned local actress, to perform in Pittsburgh. It has been owned and operated by Point Park College since 1968, which has continued the Playhouse traditions of professional theatre, as well as professional quality education in all aspects of theatre.
