Description
The Duquesne Pilsner sign (left center) was long a landmark at the corner of Bigelow Boulevard and Sixth Avenue just above Grant Street in downtown Pittsburgh. Today, this site is the location of the U.S. Steel Tower. In the lower right corner the Carlton House Hotel is under construction at the corner of Bigelow Boulevard (running vertically near the lower center of the photograph). Bigelow Boulevard made a turn to the left (near the center of the photograph) before continuing east to Oakland. Webster Avenue begins where Bigelow Avenue turns left. It can be seen (top left center) running through the Hill District neighborhood of Pittsburgh. The statue in the small triangular park (lower left) honored former Pittsburgh Mayor Magee.
