Description
The Mesta Machine Company was one of the leading manufacturers of machine tool and steel mill equipment in the world during the first half of the twentieth century. The plant, located about six miles from Pittsburgh, covered more than twenty acres and employed approximately three thousand employees, most of whom were skilled mechanics, in the early twentieth century. Some of their products included, gas and steam blowing engines for blast furnaces, forging presses, shears, cut and machine-molded gears, and various types of rolls used in rolling mills.
