Description
Beltzhoover School was named after Beltzhoover Borough, which derived its name from a pioneer family who settled in the area. The school was originally built in two phases, the first phase, designed by the Lloyd Brothers ended in 1905 when the school officially opened. The second phase was completed in 1910. A major renovation project was completed in 1923, when a gym and auditorium were added in the basement. In 2003 the school, located at 320 Cedarhurst Street, served the Allentown, Beltzhoover, Mount Oliver, and Mount Washington communities of Pittsburgh.
