Description
Model airplane building was part of an aeronautics course offered to twelfth grade students at South Vocational High School located in Pittsburgh’s South Side neighborhood. Students enrolled in aeronautics courses were instructed on the history of flight, the theory of flight, aircraft construction, and operating principles of aircraft engines. Students were also required to construct and fly a simple model glider, which they often constructed in the school shop.
