Description
WQED, the first community sponsored educational television station in the United States, was established in 1954. The station produced such classic programs as “Children’s Corner” and “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” from their building (pictured here) located at the corner of Fifth and North Bellefield Avenues in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood. WQED moved to 4802 Fifth Avenue in the late 1960s and today the structure pictured is known as the University of Pittsburgh’s Music Building. The Music Building is home to the Music Department Library, music labs, offices, and classrooms.
