Description
Quentin Roosevelt Elementary School was originally built in 1896 when the community of Carrick was part of Baldwin Township. The school at that time was simply known as the Roosevelt School. Carrick was annexed by the City of Pittsburgh in 1927, and the school name was changed to Quentin Roosevelt in honor of President Theodore Roosevelt’s son Quentin in order to avoid any confusion with Pittsburgh’s other Roosevelt School. Architect Harry H. Lefkowitz designed the building (pictured here) in 1959.
