Description
The Mifflin Elementary and Junior High School was known as the Lincoln Place School. The original Lincoln Place building was built in 1900. It was constructed with four large classrooms, one office, and two large halls. On July 1, 1929, Mifflin Township, which consisted of Lincoln Place, Hays, and New Homestead, were annexed by the City of Pittsburgh. Three years later in 1932, the Lincoln Place School was replaced by a new building and renamed Mifflin. Architects Link, Weber & Bowers, designed the new Mifflin School in what was then known as the modern style. In 1956 Franklin Douden designed an addition that allowed the school to include a junior high school.
