Description
Belle Barsky Rubenstein (1904-2001). Trained as a pianist at the Pittsburgh Musical Institute, taught piano privately at the Irene Kaufmann Settlement Music School. Chairman of the YM-WHA Musical Society (Y Music Society). Rubenstein talks about her early life; the Y Music Society and some of the most prominent performers they sponsored for Pittsburgh concerts starting in the late 1920's, including Marian Anderson and Nathen Milstein; May Beegle and her concert series; and the inner workings and politics of Y Music Society committees.
