Description
View of a massive 110 ton ingot being forged in one of Homestead's hydraulic forging presses. In the forging process, a steel ingot was heated until it became malleable and then was shaped by a hydraulic press. After forging, the metal would often be finished at the Machine Shop. Forgings would be used for ship shafts, turbines and even particle accelerators among many other things.
