Description
View of damaged freight cars askew on the tracks on the West Carson Street side of the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad yards after the 1936 St. Patrick's Day flood. The flood occurred over a period of four days after heavy rains, culminating with the crest of the Ohio River at 46 feet. The 1936 flood had far reaching effects, causing some $250 million in damages and an estimated 108 fatalities.
