Description
View of Faulsey Way, looking west towards the intersection with Fontella Street. In view in the distance is the John M. Conroy Junior High School. Originally the Fifth Ward Manual School (1867), the school complex changed its name to the John M. Conroy Elementary School in 1895 in honor of its first principal (1868-1878). In 1974 the junior high school was closed and it became Conroy Education Center, serving special needs students. The school is now Pittsburgh Conroy, continuing to serve special needs students ages 5-21.
