  • View of West Penn Hospital looking south east across the Friendship Avenue parklet from the intersection of South Mathilda Street and Friendship Avenue. The hospital was established in 1848 and opened in 1853. It founded Dixmont Hospital in 1862 to take care of patients with mental illness.
