Description
Lucia Borgna describes her childhood in Cavallermaggiore, Italy, where she was raised on a farm with a large family. She attended school until the age of 13 and then pursued a three-year dressmaking course, eventually working as a dressmaker. After marrying in 1930, Lucia and her husband emigrated to the United States in 1931. Arriving in New York, they settled in Crabtree before moving to Greensburg. Borgna discusses her work as a dressmaker, initially working from home and later for the Bon-Ton store in Greensburg for 22 years. She provides insights into her early struggles with the English language, adapting to life in a new country, and the challenges of being an Italian immigrant.
