Description
Ann Lazur discusses her family history, upbringing, work, and community life. Lazur's parents immigrated from Czechoslovakia. Lazur was born in Universal, Virginia, and later moved to Pittsburgh. Her father worked as a coal miner, and Lazur herself worked during World War II inspecting parts for the Navy. She reflects on ethnic and religious backgrounds (Greek Catholic), language use (Slovak and English), family life, farming, schooling, community dynamics, strikes in the mining community, and union activities.
