Evelyn Brooks recalls her experience participating in Vacation Bible School at her home church and how it inspired her to pursue a career in community work. She recounts her lifelong desire for a college education and her decision to pursue a degree as an adult learner at the University of Pittsburgh. She describes the importance of social clubs in the local community and the changing social life of Black people in Homestead.
