  • Walt Maddox and Fred Johnson of The Marcels mid- performance. The racially mixed group was founded in 1959 by Fred Johnson, Gene Bricker, Danile Mercado, Richard Knauss, and Cornelius Harp, all students at Oliver High School. Maddox joined in 1961 along with Allen Johnson and Ron Mundy replacing Knauss, Bricker, and Mercado.
