Description
This row of buildings on the west side of the 2000 block of Murray Avenue between Beacon and Hobart Streets in 1990 included Napoli Pizza, Mud Sweat & Gear Outdoor Clothing & Equipment, Pittsburgh Pro Bicycles, Squirrel Hill Cleaners, G&R Jewelers, Peking Gourmet Kitchen (originally Peking Royal Kitchen), King David, Murray Avenue News Stand, Pinskers, unidentified store, and Rosenbloom’s Bakery. The new façade was put on the brick buildings sometime in the mid 1980s. In the next block, houses can be seen behind the storefronts. Murray Ave. was originally a residential street. When the business district developed, some houses were demolished, and storefronts were built in front of others.
