She talks about her family and youth in New Castle in the late 1800s, early 1900s: Irish heritage; attending St. Mary School with the Sisters of St. Joseph as teachers. She discusses becoming a Sister of St. Joseph; St. Joseph’s Hospital; Sister Clarissa Stattmiller’s death as a missionary in China in 1927. [t2s1]Sister Fabian Ryan talks about teaching in the schools in the first half of the 1900s, including at St. Bernard in Mt. Lebanon (1920s and 1930s); effects of the Depression and the two World Wars on the sisters; working at St. Joseph’s Hospital (1950s).
