Description
The Pittsburg Plunge making a big splash in the pool below. The Steel Phantom is seen in the background. Pittsburg Plunge was modeled after Shoot the Chutes, a similar ride found at many parks around the turn of the 20th century. It is the centerpiece of Lost Kennywood, a themed section of the park that opened in 1995 on the site of the old Swimming Pool. It was modeled after Fred Ingersoll's Luna Park, which was located in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood from 1905-1909. The ride spells Pittsburg without an "h" just as it was from 1891-1911.
