Description
A group of men searching for bodies in the debris near Clinton Street in the aftermath of the 1889 Johnstown Flood. The debris is mostly rubble from destroyed buildings, and it fills the ground in the image. In the foreground is one man looking at the camera as on a felled pole. In the middle is a group of twelve men sorting through the wreckage while others look on. Further back are the ruins of St. John Gaubert Church toward the left side of the image.
