  • Baseball fans watching the Pittsburgh Pirates play the San Diego Padres at Three Rivers Stadium. A doubleheader, the Pirates won both games that day against the Padres: 2-1, then 10-1. The 1970 season was the first played in Three Rivers Stadium by the Pirates, replacing Forbes Field, the first game being on July 16, 1970.
