Description
An image of a worker handling a piece of metal meant for the bear trap gate inside a cofferdam in the Ohio River by Lock and Dam 9. The term "bear trap" is used to describe a type of dam that is movable and usually has two leaves that deepen the river for navigation. Lock and Dam 9 was located near New Cumberland, W. Va. and was eliminated in 1955-1963 by the New Cumberland Locks and Dam.
