Description
The sternwheel towboat the Monongahela taking on water on the Monongahela River, near the Smithfield St. Bridge. According to an article in the April 19, 1954 edition of the Daily Republican newspaper of Monongahela, Pennsylvania, the boat had crashed into a barge that it had been pushing up the river. The compartment construction of the boat prevented it from sinking.
