Description
In 1981, the D. L. Clark Company partnered with the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office to develop a bag inscribed with guidelines for children and their parents on how to Trick or Treat safely. Tips included: "Make sure mask holes are large enough to see through," "take a flashlight along for dark streets," "make sure children can't be tripped by loose costumes," "don't eat unwrapped candy or fruit until it has been inspected by your parents," stay on the sidewalk and away from traffic as much as possible," and wear bright reflective colors so that cars can see you when it's dark." These "Meet and Treat" safety bags were distributed to children in the borough of Aspinwall in October 1981.
