Description
Hockey players testing the strength of Herculite glass produced by Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company. In 1940, PPG approached Duquesne Gardens administrators in an effort to convince them to invest in Herculite glass as a protective railing around the hockey rink. According to extant documentation, PPG was unsuccessful and as a result, Herculite glass was not installed.
