Description
View of the Duquesne Incline cable car mid-transit, looking north east towards Downtown Pittsburgh. Also in view is the Fort Pitt Bridge (1959). According to the website for the Duquesne Incline, it was opened to the public on May 20, 1877. Designed by the engineer Samuel Diescher, the incline was operated by the Duquesne Inclined Plane Company from 1877 until 1962. Since 1964 it has been maintained and operated by the Society for the Preservation of The Duquesne Heights Incline and is owned by Port Authority of Allegheny County.
