  • Description
  • Mining would flourish in the area for decades, with active mines operating right through the 1920s and 30s. In time, a network of narrow gauge rail lines crisscrossed Patton Township, servicing the coal mines. Small work locomotives or “Dinky” were used to do much of the local hauling for mines like Renton, Gascola, Grimm’s and Cunningham’s.
