Description
Samuel Snodgrass, born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, enlisted as a Private in the Revolutionary War in 1754. Samuel married Elizabeth Adair; one of their sons, Samuel, was to follow in his father’s footsteps, serving his country in the War of 1812, and attaining the rank of Colonel. Another of their descendents, James King Snodgrass was to marry Anne McGinley the daughter of another of Monroeville’s pioneering families. At one point, the Snodgrass family quarried stone on their land; many of the early gravestones in the cemetery came from the nearby Snodgrass quarry.
