Description
View of the Brownsville Hospital with a car parked on the street in front. The hospital was chartered in 1910 by a group of citizens headed by E. M. Bowman. The charter stated, "The hospital is to care for those injured in accidents in the coal mines, coke ovens, railroads, and other industrial enterprises, regardless of race, sect, or creed." The facility, on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Church Street, was completed in 1916.
